Discover Petroleum has decided to acquire EM data in 6 months from mid April 2008

Based on successful verification of the Petro-Marker technology on the Troll Field in 2007 an extensive survey will be conducted during 2008. Data will be acquired in the North Sea, Norwegian Sea and the Barents Sea. Data will be acquired for prospects both in own licenses and in acreage open for application in 20. round and/or APA08.

Petro Marker, which will conduct the survey program, owns the technology and Discover has the exclusive rights on the Norwegian shelf.

Two vessels will be used; Far Sovereign will start in April and is then replaced in June by Bourbon Pearl.

There is significant interest among large companies to develop and utilise this new technology which has the potential to improve on resolution and depth of penetration compared to other available EM tools. Co-operation related to data acquisition and application in 20. round with large players on the NCS has now been settled for several areas.

"After the successful verification survey last year, we are looking forward to use the Petro Marker technology for prospects inside own licenses and in open acreage", says Ole Magnar Drønen, Director for Operations and Petroleum Technology. "We are confident that Petro Marker this year will improve the prediction of possible hydrocarbons and become a tool for Discover to apply for the best acreage and improve decision basis for exploration wells."
