Discover Petroleum AS has submitted a comprehensive application for the 20. round comprising blocks in the Norwegian - and the Barents Sea.

This application follows a previous licensing round (APA 08) which had an application date early October 2008. "The completion of the 20. round is a milestone for the company, Exploration director Yngve Vassmyr says. "We have put a lot of efforts and money in these two concession rounds, and the organization has worked very hard to deliver two applications with high quality", Vassmyr continues. The company has applied for licenses both as operator and partner.

From April 2008, Discover Petroleum AS has acquired exclusive electromagnetic data in blocks which are open for the 20. round. "The results are very encouraging",  Vassmyr states. The results have been used to mitigate exploration risk and to prioritize the most promising acreages.

"The company has 7 licenses in the Norwegian Sea and the Barents Sea inclusive one operator ship in the Norwegian Sea, and we have the ambition to increase the portfolio with high quality assets on the Norwegian continental shelf. The objective is also to become operator for new licenses in the Barents Sea.

We have great expectation to the award which is expected during spring 2009, and we do hope that the authorities credit companies which contributes with new technology and new ideas", Vassmyr quotes.
