Discover will drill two exploration wells during 2009
Discover will drill two exploration wells during 2009 as partner in the licenses PL469 and PL483S (see locations).
GDF SUEZ is the operator in PL469. In addition to Discover (22,5 %), Aker Exploration is partner in the license. Aker Barents will be used to drill the well, which is anticipated to be started during summer 09. The drilling period is estimated to approximately one month
The license was awarded in APA07 with a commitment to drill one exploration well before 2010.
The drilling in PL 469 will be Discover's first exploration well.
The exploration well in PL483S will be operated by Det Norske. Dana Petroleum and Discover Petroleum (30%) are partners. The well will be drilled by the rig Deep Sea Delta, which will commence on contract with Det Norske during 2009. The spud of the well is planned during late autumn 2009, and the drilling period is expected to be appr. 1,5 months.
PL483S was also awarded in APA07.
For both wells, the planning for optimizing the locations, data acquisition, efficiency and safety are in good progress.
In addition to the partner operated wells,
Discover has secured rig capacity for two own operated wells.
Borgland Dolphin will be used for these two wells planned for 2011 and 2012.
This contract is based on cooperation with 7 other companies.
Planning of the operational phase and the rig intake process has started in the rig consortium and within the participating companies
