Front Exploration AS has recently employed Ph.D. student Tom Arne Rydningen as part of “The Research Council of Norway Industrial Ph.D. scheme”. The University of Tromsø will be Rydningen formal educating institution.

The Industrial Ph.D. scheme is designed to enhance interaction between companies and research institutions, increase research activity in industry, and equip newly-educated scientists with knowledge of relevance to their company. Rydningen will be working with Late Cenozoic development of the continental margin off Lofoten-Vesterålen and Troms. The main objective of his research project is the study and elucidation of: 1) quantification of the erosion and uplift of the hinterland, 2) quantification of the sedimentation rates on the outer margin, 3) reconstruction of the late Cenozoic glacial history and 4) understanding of the pockmark distribution. Tom Arne Rydningen is 25 years, and graduated as Master of Science in Geology from the University of Tromsø in May 2010. Further information about NFR’s Industrial Ph.D. scheme is found here:
